James A. Adams

James Adams remains a person of interest in the suspicious death of Mary S. Grier, who was found dead in a garage behind a Farmington Avenue street home.

WPRI reported today that adams has now been charged with raping and robbing a different woman by Providence Police.

Adams is being held without bail as a violator.

Adams was apprehended in Providence on July 25 on charges of felony assault for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman about a month ago at the same Farmington Avenue address where Grier was found dead.

Since then, Adams was charged with rape and robbery by Johnston police for an attack on a woman on School Street in that town. Police said that rape occurred on April 25.

Adams was paroled in 2010 after serving seven years of a 20 year sentence for raping a woman in Warwick in 2005.

Grier, 20, last lived on Handy Street in Providence. Before that, she lived in Dorchester, Mass., where friends and relatives said she was quiet and shy but showed a lot of promise.

She moved to Cranston in 2010, family members said.
