The Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, presided at the priesthood ordination of Rev. Mr. Scott Carpentier and Rev. Mr. Thomas Woodhouseon Saturday, June 1 in the Cathedral of SS. Peter and Paul.
Thomas Woodhouse, son of Emma Jane (Smith) of Cranston and the late Edward Woodhouse, was born in New York and attended schools in Connecticut. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree. Woodhouse served in the United States Marine Corps as an aviation supply officer and for several years worked as a pilot for Raytheon Missile Systems in Texas and Arizona. In 2009, he entered formation for the priesthood and was assigned to Blessed John XXIII Seminary in Weston, Massachusetts.
While a seminarian, Woodhouse attended the Institute for Priestly Formation at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and was assigned to St. Luke Parish, Barrington for one summer. He was ordained to the transitional diaconate in 2012 by Bishop Robert C. Evans and assigned to serve as a deacon at St. Joseph Parish in Woonsocket.
Father Woodhouse celebrated his first Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, June 2 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Church, Cranston.
