Earlier this week we felt the ground wobble thanks to an earthquake in southern Maine. If that wasn't rattling enough, residents across the city, especially in western Cranston, were shaken some more thanks to a sonic boom caused by a fighter jet yesterday.
The boom occured around 5:10 p.m. Residents said it was scary, loud and confusing.
On Facebook, Cecelia Frusher said she looked out the window because she thought someone's house got damaged by something.
Lt. Alan Loiselle of the Cranston Police Department said it scared the you-know-what out of him. He said there were two jets and two booms and the planes looked like raptors, although they were reportedly caused by F-15s.
The planes were reportedly from the Mass. Air National Guard. A call to their public affairs office was not immediatley returned. We'll post more information as it becomes available.
