The Rhode Island Division of Taxation has extended a tax deadline for businesses and taxpayers who had payments and returns due on Oct. 31.
The deadline is now Nov. 7 — a measure to give some relief to taxpayers affected by Hurricane Sandy, according to a state press release.
"Many taxpayers and small businesses — and their tax preparers — have suffered through extended power outages, flooding, and other effects of the storm," David M. Sullivan, state tax administrator.
Sullivan said giving people extra time is "the least we can do."
