A Cranston man was arrested for stealing bathroom fixtures across the state, earning him the nickname "the Bathroom Bandit."

Warwick Police arrested Christopher Stewart, 58, of Cranston on Thursday. He was picked up after an employee of the Wendy's on Bald Hill Road reported that plumbing from the men's room was missing.

Police said Stewart most recently stole the automatic flush valve from the bathroom at the Pilgrim Senior Center on Warwick Avenue.

Seven other area restrooms were targeted by Stewart, police said, and he was charged with seven counts of misdemeanor larceny and two felony larceny counts.

Police said Stewart was scrapping the metal and fixtures that he was stealing. In one crime, more than $1,500 worth of valves were stolen from a public bathroom.
